NFL Posters
I have worked for many years as a freelance sports writer, and even though I have a great love of just about every single sport and look forward to the start of most seasons, the NFL football season has to be my absolute favorite sport.

When I was growing up, we were basically a two-sport family — baseball and football. We had a running joke in our family where we referred to February and March as “the wilderness months,” because that was the time of year when football had just finished and baseball had not yet started. Even back then, the biggest letdown of the year came when the Super Bowl was over.
As I grew up and became more interested in sports, I fell in love with many other sports. I am a huge hockey fan, and now that I have that to watch, the months of February and March are not quite so bad. Combine that with the fact that I actually became a wrestler in high school, and now I have the high school state championship and college national wrestling championships in the months of February and March, respectively.
There is still something very special about the NFL football season, though, that no other sport can really match. Perhaps it is the fond memories of watching games with my father at our home when I was a child, or the fact that we were all together on Sunday afternoons to watch the games as a family, but whenever the fall starts to approach and sports broadcasters start talking about football, I always get so excited.
The NFL football season is a time when sports fans just seem the most enthusiastic. I have a friend who is originally from the Washington, D.C. area who actually lives down here in Texas. We are very good friends, except for those two occasions each fall when the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys play each other. Then we don’t really talk to each other, unless it is to call the other one and tease them if our team wins the game.
Football is the one sport where I can really watch just about any game, regardless of who is playing, and thoroughly enjoy myself in the process. I watch Monday Night Football every week, and my son is right there with me, munching on snacks and having a blast.
The NFL football season is a very special time of the year for me and something to which I always look forward to. I know that baseball is supposed to be the national pastime, and basketball has more participation than any other sport in the country, but football just seems like the most popular American sport today. It is something that I truly love, and a season that is always a lot of fun.
